As Social Media Associate, you will be responsible for managing Sheevolution Africa’s social media presence creating and curating engaging content, growing our digital community, and supporting brand visibility. You’ll work closely with the Marketing & Communications Manager to execute content plans, build engagement strategies, and ensure consistent storytelling across platforms.


Your Responsibilities

Content Creation & Community Engagement

  • Co-create compelling content that reflects Sheevolution’s voice and values across platforms.

  • Maintain and execute the social media content calendar in alignment with campaigns, events, and programs.

  • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions across platforms in a timely and engaging manner.

  • Assist in planning and executing interactive content such as polls, Instagram Lives, Twitter chats, and behind-the-scenes takeovers.

  • Manage all social media platforms of Sheevolution Africa and ensure timely content posting and scheduling.

  • Create and regularly update Sheevolution Africa’s website with relevant content such as blogs, news and programs.


Growth & Strategy

  • Support the development and implementation of strategies to grow followers, increase reach, and deepen audience engagement.

  • Track performance metrics (engagement, reach, growth, etc.) and share regular reports with the communications team.

  • Stay on top of platform trends, algorithm changes, and best practices to improve performance and relevance.


Supportive Functions

  • Attend and document Sheevolution events, collecting photos, videos, and quotes for content.

  • Collaborate with program and fundraising teams to amplify campaigns and impact stories.

  • Assist in curating the media archive (photos, video clips, testimonials) for easy content access.Provide support for email newsletters and basic website updates as needed.

  • Assist the Stakeholder and Communications manager in assigned tasks and duties. 


Competencies

  • Strong written and visual communication skills

  • Excellent knowledge of major social platforms (Instagram, X/Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn)

  • Basic graphic design skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express)

  • Familiarity with scheduling tools (e.g., Buffer, Later, Meta Business Suite)

  • Basic photography/video editing and visual storytelling skills

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and responsive

  • Creative, proactive, and adaptable team player

  • Passion for gender equity, youth development, and storytelling for change


Qualifications

  • 1–2 years experience in social media management, digital marketing, or communications (internship experience counts)Demonstrated content creation and community management experience

  • Recent graduate in Communications, Marketing, Media, Journalism, or related field (preferred)Comfortable working in a fast-paced nonprofit or mission-driven environment

  • Fluency in written and spoken English
